Nashville may be known for hot chicken and country music, but Joe Thompson (FoodTravelToilets on social media) is proving there’s room for some island flavor in Music City. In his latest food truck adventure, Joe stopped by the Cuban Cracker Family Kitchen, a colorful mobile kitchen dishing out bold Cuban flavors with heart and heritage.

Joe dove right in with two of the truck’s signature dishes: Ropa Vieja and Flan.

The Ropa Vieja—a classic shredded beef stew slow-cooked in a rich tomato-based sauce—earned high praise. Joe described it as “deeply savory, tender, and layered with the kind of flavor you only get from something that’s been simmering for hours.” Served with fragrant white rice and sweet plantains, the dish was a satisfying nod to tradition that still felt right at home in Nashville.

But the surprise star of the show? The Cuban flan. Creamy, smooth, and topped with a glossy layer of caramel, it left Joe practically speechless. “This may have been the best flan I have ever had in my entire life” he said.

Joe’s verdict? The Cuban Cracker Family Kitchen isn’t just another food truck—it’s a culinary love letter to Cuban roots, served from a window on wheels. For Nashvillians craving something different (and delicious), this truck is a must-visit.

Stay hungry, Nashville. Make sure to give Joe a follow!
